Misty Mountain
2 CD

Misty Mountain is the brainchild of Nicholas Emmert, who also shreds a mean axe and sings for the progressively psychedelic mind melting rock band Mammatus.  This ain't no Mammatus side project though, for Nicholas had been exploring his lo-fi DIY 4-Track persona long before he started shattering skulls with exploding electric guitar wizardry.  On the aptly titled 2, the second Misty Mountain album but first to see any sort of official release, he delights in exploring the endless possibilities of the Tascam MK424 cassette four track recorder.  Showcasing his wide range of musical love and ability, Nicholas treats our ears to delicately woven acoustic guitar instrumentals, far out experimental tape collage, toe tapping folk rockers, native american flute journeys, and even a blissed out  electric jam with Residual Echoes main brain Adam Payne.  Nicholas harnesses his voice as well, singing lovingly and heartily as he marvels in the beauty and wonder of the natural world, while pondering his own place in it.  For fans of mountains, rocks,  redwoods, and spiritual awakening.

New Thrill Parade
Slumber in Colorland - LP

WonderQuest is very pleased to be releasing The New Thrill Parade's third LP, Slumber in Colorland. The album marks a drastic maturation in the sound of the Santa Cruz/San Francisco sextet. This new full length captures the energy of the band's frenetic live shows, while illustrating the density of their conceptual  glom. Helmed by Mammatus knob-twiddler Aaron Emmert, Slumber In Colorland was recorded methodically over a grueling 10 month period in the hellishly remote apple orchard studio known as the Silent Planet. The album is limited to 500 LP's and a small number of individualized cdrs (first 250 records to include cdrs).

The sound of Slumber in Colorland is dark and allegorical, merging a wide array of influences with a clear collective vision. Vocals swish effortlessly from a Nick Cave scowl to a Brian Ferry croon to a shrill Kate Bush purr. Guitars, bass, and drums pound out discordant waltzes and besotted foxtrots, alternately complimenting and masking the vocals. Saxophones blare and soothe.  In the distance, the sweet strains of a scraped bedpan add a dirty wide-screen glow.

Over the course of four years of local shows, four West Coast and two national tours (one with Crucial Blast's Wildildlife and the other with Wonder Quest label mates Mammatus), the New Thrill Parade has built a  devoted national following.
